I received this stand as a gift and am very happy with it. It is quite stable whether the iPad is in portrait or landscape mode. I haven't had any trouble using it either way or charging it in either position. The charging cable rests nicely in a recessed area in one side of the cradle when it is charging in portrait mode (where the charging outlet is positioned on the bottom). Or you can run the cable through the stand and it stays out of the way and out of view. Either way works fine but it's easier for me to use it out to the side so the iPad can be picked up and replaced in the stand while the cable is still attached. It's easy to use the iPad in the stand, it stays in place and I find the higher angle perfect for comfortable desktop use (mine is positioned about 16" from the front of the desk) or you can put it in the lower angle position if you prefer, which works nicely if you wish to use it directly in front of you on the desk for example. Although some other reviewers have mentioned having only two adjustment angles being a limitation, Griffin seems to have done a nice job figuring out the two positions that happen to work great for me. Depending on how far away you wish to place it, the two adjustments may or may not be perfect for everyone but I've moved it all around and it still seems to be at a good, useable angle at any distance. I think offering the ability to adjust to multiple angles could compromise the stability and integrity of it staying in the desired position and any additional mechanical angle adjustments could take away from the clean design. A very solid feel and quality workmanship adds to the nice appearance and the rubber type bumper feet on the bottom keep it in place, I don't have to worry about it sliding on the desktop or tipping over when in use or if it gets bumped. Everywhere the iPad touches the stand has the same rubber coating like the feet so it won't scratch the iPad. Some have mentioned it was sharp-edged, but mine is perfectly smooth, so any such issues may have been resolved by the time mine was produced. The surface has a nice matte, very slightly textured finish which should help it stay looking new and scratch-free for quite a while, and gives it a more modern look suitable for either home or office. It would be easy to fold flat and take along when traveling, it does add some weight since it is metal, and of course I wouldn't store it in the same case as the iPad, but it definitely could go along if needed. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the stand. |

Nearly perfect |
Really outstanding sturdiness, that's the first thing you feel...just be careful you don't slice your hand open from the unfinished edges. I'm exaggerating only a little. Overall this is a solid A-frame design, well-built, nicely designed, and functional. But seriously, every edge was surprisingly sharp, as if they hadn't finished sanding it down before boxing it (as others have noted). A friend at a local machine shop give it to his repair team and they perfected it, smoothing out all the roughness (Note to Griffin: talk with QA).
Aside from the nonadjustable stand positions already mentioned in other reviews, I love this unit, especially now. My lovely Case-Mate Gelli Tomato skin fits in it beautifully. |

Perfect for iPad - Awesome Stand |
Extremely well-built stand that is ideal for an iPad. It has the ability to remain plugged-in while standing in portrait orientation (vertical), while the cord remains cleverly hidden behind and under the stand.
The only possible negatives might be the large Griffin logo on the front and the sandpaper-like (very fine grit) finish. But both are not issues for me.
The build construction and materials are excellent. The thing is solid and doesn't move around. The rubber used on the feet and the surfaces touching the iPad is perfect. In fact, the only places the iPad touches are rubber surfaces, and when you place the iPad in the stand, it's just solid.
The wide hinge in the bad has no wiggle room, so the stand does not have any play at all if you try to push it back and forth. I'm trying to find ways of saying the thing will not disappoint.
I'll be getting another one. |

I do like the stand, holds my iPad very secure. But whats's with the finish? Feels like a nail file! I would prefer a smooth finish rather than this. |

A little pricey, but quality is outstanding, and explains cost. Very handy device, and allows one to view ipad and not have to hold it in hand, freeing hands for other task. |
